Next time we will look at what staging is NOT.
What are your thoughts about home staging as a marketing tool?
Home staging has been defined in a number of ways. "Decorating a home to sell" or "the art of preparing a home for sale" are among the most common. While I don't disagree with either of these, I wonder if they haven't somehow shortchanged exactly what home stagers do. Marketing your home means choosing the right price, advertising it online and elsewhere and keeping interest in your home through open houses. This is why you are paying a real estate agent. They are the experts, right? Well, the presentation of your home is just as important in the marketing of your home, and the "presentation expert" is a professional home stager. Home stagers know the target market for your home. They know what will appeal to those buyers and what will be a turn off (and are usually quite tactful letting the homeowner know the difference!). They understand that over 80% of home buyers start online and how important, then, the photographs of the home are. They are abreast of decorating trends and skilled at using neutrals in a non-boring way! In short, a professional home stager knows how to make your home look its best to the greatest number of buyers. Consulting a home stager and following the recommendations she makes will increase your chances for a quick and profitable sale. A professional home stager is not just a good decorator, she is an integral part of the selling team.
